Role Summary: As a Technical Artist at Muddy Robot Games, you will be the vital link between our art and programming. You will apply your technical expertise to solve creative challenges, streamline our art processes, and ensure that our game’s visuals are not just stunning but also seamlessly integrated and optimized for performance. You will facilitate the realization of our artistic vision within the technical framework of our game platforms. Must be located in the United States.

Educational Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Game Development, Graphic Design, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience may also be considered.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Technical Artist role within the game development industry.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with game engines such as Unity and familiarity with their artistic tools and limitations.
  • Experience in developing custom tools and scripts, ideally in Python, MEL, or C#.

Additional Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of content creation pipelines for 3D graphics, animation, and effects.
  • Ability to write custom shaders and create advanced visual effects.
  • Knowledge of optimization techniques for 3D assets, including LODs, batching, and texture compression.
  • Familiarity with art and animation software such as Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max.

Work Environment: We are currently a fully remote studio. We are calling for individuals across the United States who are ready to join our narrative from 9-5 PM based on their local time zone, Monday through Friday. We are unable to bring on international candidates at this time.

Compensation: Muddy Robot Games invites you to contribute your skills and expertise as a contractor. Instead of a traditional salary, you will receive equity shares in the company, signifying your role as a stakeholder. The initial value of your equity is based on a fair market valuation, corresponding to the agreed-upon worth of your input. 

Our equity compensation model is structured to proportionately reward your contributions. As the company progresses, it’s important to understand that the value of your equity may vary with market conditions and company performance. It is essential for prospective contractors to consult with a professional regarding the legal and tax implications of equity compensation.
