Role Summary: As a character concept artist, you’ll harness your creative skills and artistic eye to develop humanoid playable characters and creatures for our upcoming title. You’ll conjure spellbinding visuals that complement the gameplay and enhance the narrative. Your expertise will bring a new dimension to our games, making every interaction a spectacle. Must be located in the United States.

Responsibilities:

• Design characters, creatures, props, production callouts, high vision concept art, color scripts, marketing material, and other visual guides and tasks as needed to assist the development team
• Combine the goals of game design, art direction, and technological considerations to help build industry-defining characters
• Research and initiate information gathering of pertinent subject matter to your task
• Develop and maintain strong creative and collaborative partnerships across subject areas to help further develop the in-game characters, visual language, and rule sets for fantasy-based worlds
• Solve complex artistic development issues for artists as well as other team members
• Actively improve your skills and maintain an awareness of industry techniques, and tools, evaluate competitive products, learn new software packages and traditional art methods

Educational Qualifications:

• A degree in art, or equivalent experience demonstrated by a strong portfolio.
• Strong command of foundation art skills (drawing, painting and rendering, material indication, perspective, composition, color theory, design, anatomy, and 2d and 3d design techniques)
• Strong anatomy/creature skills with the ability to design and render realistic, believable fantasy based creatures and characters using contemporary industry standard tools and techniques
• Strong ideation, brainstorming, and documentation skills
• Proficiency in Adobe Suite or other art tools with an emphasis on drawing, painting, and image-making
• Strong time management and prioritization skills
• Familiarity with video game product development and the fundamentals of 3D packages

Work Environment: We are currently a fully remote studio. We are calling for individuals across the United States who are ready to join our narrative from 9-5 PM based on their local time zone, Monday through Friday. We are unable to bring on international candidates at this time.

Compensation: Muddy Robot Games invites you to contribute your skills and expertise as a contractor. Instead of a traditional salary, you will receive equity shares in the company, signifying your role as a stakeholder. The initial value of your equity is based on a fair market valuation, corresponding to the agreed-upon worth of your input. 

Our equity compensation model is structured to proportionately reward your contributions. As the company progresses, it’s important to understand that the value of your equity may vary with market conditions and company performance. It is essential for prospective contractors to consult with a professional regarding the legal and tax implications of equity compensation.
